Brief Description
ISA Limitations with Intel Baytrail Chipsets as well as with Intel® Express Chipset which refers to any chipset that includes an Intel® I/O Controller Hub 6, 7, 8, or 9 (ICH6, ICH7, ICH8 and ICH9).
Due to the limitation of Intel Bay Trail processors, the WSB-BT does not
support the following features:
1.) Bus Master Cycles
2.) DMA
3.) LPC Memory Mapped Transactions
4.) IRQ0, IRQ1, IRQ2, IRQ8, IRQ9, IRQ13, IRQ14
5.) ISA Enable (IE) Bit
6.) PnP
Solution
With Intel® Express Chipset which refers to any chipset that includes an Intel® I/O Controller Hub 6, 7, 8, or 9 (ICH6, ICH7, ICH8 and ICH9) and Intel SoC (Intel Baytrail) does not support Native ISA Signal. That is why Motherboards (SBC) with the above Intel Chipsets designed it with PCI-to-ISA or LPC-to-ISA Bridge IC(s) in order for the designed Motherboard can support ISA Cards. However, not all ISA Card/Cards will be support due to the listed features above that ISA Card requires.
