Seizing the Remote Management Opportunity in the IoT Era
The Statista report predicts that by 2030, there will be 29 billion interconnected devices in the Internet of Things (IoT). However, there is a problem: there won't be enough maintenance workers to handle the fast-growing number of IoT devices. At the same time, it has become harder and more expensive to maintain and repair equipment because of increasing labor costs. The key to future success in the Internet of Things is being able to efficiently manage devices remotely.
Efficiency-Driven System Remote Management
Maximizing Time Savings and Cost Reduction
IEI introduces iRIS2-2600 and iRIS2-2620 modules for improved remote edge device management, in alignment with IPMI 2.0 standard. They offer extensive features for remote control and monitoring. Their application extends to IEI's motherboards, panel PCs, and network appliances, broadening IPMI's reach to edge server and gateway layer systems, allowing engineers to manage systems as if on-site.
The solution is a versatile remote management tool compatible with various operating systems and platforms. Admins can execute actions distantly like system reboot, BIOS or firmware update, system state logging, continuous health monitoring, and issuing early warnings for possible failures.
The iRIS2 system also offers remote access even when the device is unresponsive or off, through a web interface for configuration management and KVM over IP redirection. Ultimately, with iRIS2 remote modules from IEI, companies can save time and money by reducing resources and IT site visits.
IPMI 2.0 Management Card with Out-of-Band Management Capability
IPMI is a set of industry standard specifications for hardware-based subsystem. The subsystems can manage and monitor independently of the host system's CPU, firmware, and operating system. IEI iRIS2 modules seamlessly integrate with ASPEED AST2600 and AST2620 Baseboard Management Controllers (BMC).
The BMC connects with various components like BIOS, CPU, OS, power supply, and sensors using the system bus. It helps manage CPU speeds, fan speeds, voltages, temperatures, event log, and system rebooting.
The IPMI interface has its own NIC management port, located on IEI's systems. To activate the IPMI console, you need to connect the system with a LAN cable.

Direct Power Control
Alert Notification
With remote KVM control, IT administrators can access and work on remote PCs and devices as if they were physically present
You can use iMAN to control the power remotely. For example, you can perform the following power-related actions:
- Immediately reboot server
- Orderly shutdown server
Different methods are available for setting up alert notification for hardware errors detected by iMAN's.
Intuitive Web-Based Management Portal
Access scattered devices located on-site remotely using iMAN, our intuitive and user-friendly cloud portal. This portal consolidates all the data and information from IEI hardware into a unified platform.
Enhancing Business Continuity with Remote Disaster Recovery
Recent statistics show that remote resolution can resolve more than 80% of system failures. iRIS2 helps administrators fix problems quickly, save money, and solve most issues without needing to be physically present. This ability is helpful in avoiding costly visits. It is particularly useful for important tasks such as continuous manufacturing and AI-based edge computing.
With the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair issues remotely, the need for on-site visits is drastically reduced. This not only negates the costs associated with travel and downtime, but it also increases productivity by enabling faster resolution times. Furthermore, the ability to monitor operational status in real- time enhances efficiency and prevents potential disasters before they occur.
80% devices will be back to normal after power cycling.
With remote KVM control, IT administrators can access and work on remote PCs and devices as if they were physically present. Remote power control gives administrators the ability to turn on or reboot a device, even if the OS is down. IEI’s iRIS2 technology provides a comprehensive tool that supports out-of-band power management of all networked IoT devices.
Choosing the Appropriate Tool for Remote Management
The latest IEI products are compatible with the iRIS2 modules. The new iRIS2 modules from IEI are small and slim, saving space and keeping the system cool. They have a proprietary pin design and come in a compact form factor.
Additionally, IEI's iRM remote management solution provides effective centralized device management.

Centralized Administration via the Private Cloud
IEI and QNAP enhance potential by offering comprehensive remote management features within your private cloud environment. IEI's iRM is a software tool that manages many devices and performs monitoring and management tasks remotely. It streamlines regular administration and supports IPMI 2.0. This allows for the tracking of the health status of IEI IPMI-compatible devices, regardless of the operating system's running status.
Highly Effective Centralized Remote Troubleshooting
By empowering IT teams with the ability to remotely troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair issues, the need for on-site visits is drastically reduced. This not only negates the costs associated with travel and downtime, but it also increases productivity by enabling faster resolution times. Furthermore, the ability to monitor operational status in real-time enhances efficiency and prevents potential disasters before they occur. Ultimately, the integration of iRIS2 and iRM operation in computer management serves to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership significantly.
