A ruggedized mobile device with a built-in scanner for taking card payments
Our client’s resort in the Austrian Alpes needed a device to process card payments. They needed more flexibility than a dedicated card machine available from their payment processor and more portable than a fixed computer setup. To take advantage of wider services available to Internetconnected devices they needed to be able to install software and scan codes directly from the device.
There was a direct comparison against more consumer-oriented mobile devices which continue to offer good features and value for money. However, they recognized the downsides of consumer devices and that a business-focused device could be a cost-effective investment over the longer term.
This case study looks closely at the specific requirements for this application and how a device was chosen to accomplish these needs.
